Energy
For new buildings, compliance with the current building regulations is now assessed via whole house calculations. This covers many aspects of the construction including insulation levels, efficiency of heating systems and controls. Currently oil heating has been assumed with electric secondary heating. Other heating types may result in a requirement to increase the thermal performance of the timber frame. There are further changes to the regulations coming into force in October 2010 which will require even more efficient heating systems and insulation products. House kit packages quoted after this date will have to be priced individualy.
